inter-action

Dayton and Amy had worked together over the years, and as with many business relationships things got busy, and they fell out of touch for a while. They met up again at FITC08 and decided they wouldn’t let that happen again. They realized if it could happen to them, it was probably happening to everyone. They also realized how fragile and important personal relationships are and that social networking has disconnected most of us from the face to face interaction.  So they came up with Inter-Action and the first event was held at the Indusblue offices with 12 people in 2007. Since then Amy Miranda has been continuing to organize and host inter-action events every other month. Since then they’re up to over 100 people. We’ve held events in Toronto and most recently, Calgary.

Inter-action is open to everyone. Period. It's an open event.  We do ask that you join our group and RSVP to events on Facebook if you're planning to join us so we have a sense of how many people will be coming. Facebook is also the best way to hear about inter-action. We don't have a mailing list, we're not collecting you information, we're just keeping it grass roots. We think that's why it works.

So what is it that happens at inter-action?

It’s a Bi-monthly event that is put on by the “host”. The host can be a anyone. An agency or production company. The only requirement is that you've been to inter-action before.
They usually serve beer and chips, it’s very informal. The host pays for the beer. So we couldn't keep going without them. If we can't find a host Amy pays for the beer.
There are two presentations that we co-ordinate and determine presenters for, the idea being to find people in and out of our personal networks doing cool, or amazing things.

We discuss challenges, opportunities, process, ideas, technology and everything in-between. The presentations are short 10-15 minutes a piece designed to ignite the evening with discussion and get people talking openly about the stuff they do (that is where the beer comes in).

We are colleagues, friends, business partners and competitors all in the same space working towards a common goal - to learn, share and make the business better.
