Chanda Chevannes

Chanda is an award-winning Documentary Filmmaker, Writer and Educator. Her films Living Downstream and UNFRACTURED have been broadcast on six continents, have been seen by more than four million people, and have inspired tangible legislative and social change. She spent the summer of 2020 researching and writing Documentary Production in the Era of COVID-19, a guide for filmmakers creating  during the pandemic. She is also an arts educator who teaches on the art and business of filmmaking.

As a biracial and bisexual woman, Chanda’s experiences have taught her that there are two things of which we need more: joy and justice. She hopes her work serves to bring both into the world.

Chanda spent the summer of 2020 researching and writing Documentary Production in the Era of COVID-19, a practical guide for documentary filmmakers who are shooting and editing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Produced by the Documentary Organization of Canada in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and the Directors Guild of Canada, the publication was called a “landmark guide” by Playback Magazine. See the guide.
