As the principle of Advantage Consulting Inc., Julie is a Master Certified Coach who has worked extensively as an Executive and Leadership coach and consultant for over two decades. Her focus is on the people side of business with clients from a broad sector of industries in both the public and private arena including local government, academia, professional and financial services, healthcare, technology and telecommunications.
Julie’s focus for being in the moment and experiencing the reality of the situation helps leaders and their teams find the courage to bring what really matters into the conversation. Whether working with a Chief Financial Officer faced with complex refinancing issues, or a team leader faced with communication changes to a diverse global workforce, Julie helps her clients get to the core of the issue to identify and remove blocks that may be getting in their way. She respectfully challenges her clients to not only face their fears, but to develop their own resourcefulness to overcome those fears and take a systems thinking perspective towards leadership during times of chaos and uncertainty.
Taking a practical and positive approach, Julie engages in a process to first understand the environmental business context and the leadership strengths, challenges and opportunities in support of building leadership capacity and mutual trust. With clarity around the vision, motivation and intent, Julie works as a trusted thinking partner co-creating action plans and collaborating on the best way forward to reach desired outcomes, for leaders, their teams and the organization.
Julie is the selected Executive Coach for UBC Sauder’s School of Business MTLC Leadership Program, a Faculty Member at The Marcus Buckingham Company and is a certified facilitator of various programs designed to teach leaders take a ‘coach approach’ towards management. Julie has partnered with multiple organizations in North America to help shape their internal coaching cultures and foster internal coaching communities. Her clients range from global entities to local SMEs who are vested in their people practices and have the courage and appetite to engage in disruptive thinking practices and systemic team development. As a Coach Supervisor, Julie is also engaged by coaches around the world to enhance their skills and engage in reflective learning.
